Your expertise and talents would augment ILN’s mission. The following committees offer a variety of engagement opportunities.

  • Minimal time commitment: 1-2 hours a month. Maybe even less on some months!
  • ALL communication is via email or phone!

Committees

Legislative — CINDY BOWERS, Chair — bowerscj@uindy.edu

The legislative committee serves as a monitor for public policy issues related to education for nurses at the constituent level. Communication about legislative issues is non-partisan and unbiased in nature.

Public Relations — AMANDA LEFFLER, Chair — leffler@iu.edu

The public relations committee is responsible for public relations and publication of the newsletter to keep our members informed on what is currently happening within our organization and across the state in nursing education. The ILN newsletter is published quarterly. The public relations committee manages the ILN website and Facebook page.

Program — ROXIE BARNES, Chair — roxbarne@iu.edu

The program committee is responsible for identifying professional development opportunities and planning, scheduling and offering programs that meet the interests and needs of nurses and nurse educators in Indiana. The programs provide CE opportunities for nurse professionals and funds generated from the programs and basket auctions support educational scholarships for members pursuing advanced degrees.

Global Health — ASHLEY CARTER, Co-Chair — ancarter@usi.edu and HEATHER WIERZBINSKI-CROSS, Co-Chair — hwierzbinskicro@ivytech.edu

The global committee is committed to sharing innovative and creative ideas regarding global health to implement into nursing curricula. The global committee disseminates current strategies and shares stories of students studying abroad throughout Indiana Schools of Nursing.

Scholarship — CYNTHIA SOFHAUSER, Chair — csofhaus@iusb.edu

The Scholarship committee, in accordance with ILN board direction, oversees the scholarship application and award process. The committee makes recommendations to the ILN board regarding criteria for the scholarship awards. Members evaluate the applications based on approved criteria and awards are determined based on the applications receiving the highest scores. Awardees are presented to the ILN board for approval. Awards are presented at the spring dinner and discussion.

The Membership Committee maintains a current membership list, works collaboratively with the treasurer to maintain an updated membership list, provides membership updates to the ILN Board at scheduled board meetings and works with the board and the NLN on initiatives to recruit new members.
